Travel Brings a Fresh Perspective

They say travel broadens the mind. Whether it’s true is perhaps an interesting question, but for a photographer it does offer the chance to discover new subjects,  apply different perspectives and rethink their approach … 

… and though I’m a strong advocate of spending time getting to know and understand a place, there’s a freshness is seeing something new (to you) for the first time. 

On our recent trip abroad we drove through several European countries, from flat lands of the Netherlands to the heights of the Dolomites, and most things in between. The different landscapes provided the opportunity  to break out from what had become straight jacket of repeated compositions (with which I was becoming increasingly bored) and made me re-consider both what appeals to me artistically and how I’d like to portray the world. 

To find this new voice will take a fresh eye, a new ways of seeing, a lot of practice and perhaps some new equipment (always good). We’ll see!
